You know that feeling of being overwhelmed don’t you?
You can’t see the wood for the trees. You feel like you’re wading through treacle. Your head’s in a fog. You’re stuck on the old hamster wheel. You can’t see how on earth you’re going to feel better.
The first step to shaking off the shackles is to get a clearer picture of where you are right now.
I liken this to those times I’ve been to London. I know where I’m heading as I get off the tube. I choose one of the exits from the station and then as I reach the street level, I have to get my bearings. I have to know exactly where I am before I can take a step towards where I’m going.
Sometimes I realise I’m not in the place I wanted to be. So it is in life isn’t it?
That’s OK. The important thing is to recognise where you are right now. If you don’t, you’re going to find it even more overwhelmingly difficult to get to where you want to be and those feelings of overwhelm will persist.
It’s a choice. Either you carry on meandering and wandering around your life wasting precious time or you take a moment to stop and check in with where you are right now.
And the important thing to bear in mind is that where you are right now is just fine. This is not the time for you to berate yourself for not being in the place you want to be. It’s a time to accept that you’ve done your best and here is where you are. It’s a time to acknowledge that the checking in is the first step in you pointing yourself in the direction you want to head in. It’s a time to remember that every journey starts with a single step.
We each have unknown potential. We can only hope to find out what we’re capable of by being the best possible version of us. And there’s no magic bullet here. It’s an on-going quest – to be the best we can be and to understand ourselves more so that we can connect with ourselves and others. So that we can get clear about what lights us up. So that we can be a great role model for our children and friends. So that we can feel inspired and motivated and live a beautifully meaningful life.
I’ve created this beautiful booklet to help you get clear about where you are now, just click here to sign up and I’ll send it to you (I won’t bombard you with emails)
